    Happy New Year

2020 is finally behind us. We found ourselves escaping to our virtual island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons since March. What better way to send it off by celebrating on our island.

We’ll be sure to share more from our virtual haven in the future but if you were interested in checking it out in the meantime, here is our dream address: DA-1871-8574-8735

    Married

We were just talking the other day about updating our site. But how much do we have to share? With the world going through COVID we haven’t traveled, haven’t been to any cool places or done much outside of building our amazing Animal Crossing island (which, oh yes, we’ll share more on that soon).

But one thing that has happened since the last update – we got married! Exactly one year after our engagement. Luckily we were able to celebrate with friends and family last December before the world went to hell.

We’ll try to be better and update more, soon…

    Engaged!

We’ve been a bit silent on our site for awhile, life has just been crazy busy and we’re trying to think how we want to best use this site again. But we have a bit of news to share: We got engaged!

10 years together and many more ahead of us…

    Brooklyn Sourdough

    Hello again, Jason here.
    It’s been awhile.

What have we been up to?
    A LOT!

But the one thing that’s brought us a lot of joy lately is baking our very own sourdough bread. Erin brought life to her own starter, which we’ve named Constance (due to the mail we still receive for a lady of the same name), which she’s used to create amazing baked goods. She’s even created a new Instagram account to showcase these creations: Brooklyn Sourdough.

She’s also recently written about the entire process to creating each loaf which you can read on her site.

We look forward to sharing more of her tasty creations on that account and more of our adventures on this site in 2018!

    Quick Bite - Katana-Ya

It’s been awhile since Erin and I updated our site, and we thought creating quick posts about meals we’ve eaten would be a great way to breathe new life into the site.

This week we’re visiting San Francisco while I attend Google I/O. We were both hungry and wanted to get something simple and warm on a damp, cool May day. After some Google searching, Erin found Katana-Ya ramen in the Union Square neighborhood, which was near our hotel.

I had the Katana-Ya Ramen in Soy Broth. It included two pieces of BBQ pork, seaweed, green onions, corn, a hard-boiled egg, 2 pieces of fried goyza, and 2 pieces of karaage (fried chicken).

Erin had the BBQ Pork Ramen in Miso Broth. It included four pieces of BBQ pork, seaweed, and green onions. We both wished the pork was a pork belly as this was a bit tougher than we’re used to.

    All in all, pretty good.

    Some helpful tips:

  • When you arrive, there is a sign-in sheet outside the door. Put your name down and expect a small wait.
  • Turnaround is quick.
  • Food arrives fast and hot!
  • May need to flag down weight staff to pay your bill.
  • They don’t take American Express.

    Happy Holidays 2013

We didn’t get our act together in time to make a holiday card this year (last year’s was too epic!), so here is our holiday greeting to all of you, near and far! May you have happy holidays and a happy new year! With love from Erin and Jason.
